Epic Fulminea hypercar to make UK debut at Salon Privé
  • Barely believable hypercar set for first appearance at Salon Privé
  • Automobili Estrema claims all-electric car will produce 2040 horsepower
  • Innovative battery pack will give a range of 520km on single charge

The fully electric Automobili Estrema Fulminea will make its UK debut at the Salon Privé show at Blenheim Palace in September.

The Fulminea is set to go on sale in the second half of 2023, and is said to be the first street legal hypercar in the world to use a ‘hybrid’ battery pack which combines lithium-ion cells with solid state electrolyte and ultracapacitors.

That combination will provide 100kWh of energy, powering four electric motors with a total output of around 2040hp. A 0-320kph (just under 200mph) time of under 10 seconds is likely to be the result for the Fulminea, apt as its Italian translation is ‘instantaneous or lighting fast.’

An impressive range of 520km is expected from a single charge, while the battery is expected to weigh 300kg, adding to a total weight of 1500kg. The battery pack is to be created in cooperation with battery specialist IMECAR Elektronik and the two different cell types will be packed into separate carbon composite cases, with the ultracapacitors at the front axle and the larger pack placed between the cabin and the rear axle for the benefits of weight distribution and a low centre of gravity.

As with all hypercars, emphasis has been placed on aerodynamics, with detailed computational fluid dynamic tests contributing to the design. The car will also feature active aerodynamics including a variable front air intake and a retractable rear wing.

No images of the interior have yet been released, but Automobili Estrema say the Fulminea will have a ’clean and yet sophisticated exclusive design’ which will include a blend of analogue and digital instrumentation. Only 61 models are expected to be made and pre-orders are already open.

Automobili Estrema is one of the newest emerging supercar manufacturers, and was founded only last year by entrepreneur Gianfranco Pizzuto. The upstart has wasted no time in settling into the industry, like most Italian hypercar manufacturers, Automobili Estrema has set up base in Modena.

The company has been established to become the ‘fastest technology lab on wheels’ and will specialise in the design and production of exclusive hypercars built in limited numbers.

The car’s first UK appearance will come as part of Salon Privé’s new Concepts & Prototypes class in the show’s Concours d’Elégance. This will feature 10 of the most stylish, elegant and innovative designs in the motoring world in a covered area located at the very heart of the event, with the overall winner selected by a panel of globally recognised judges.

Gianfranco Pizzuto, Founder and CEO of Automobili Estrema:

The Fulminea marks the beginning of a new generation of electric cars – it has all the characteristics of a racing car, but features a fully electric powertrain and innovative solutions.

Our philosophy is based on four main concepts – romance, elegance, purity and balance – and we can think of nowhere better than Salon Privé at which to give the Fulminea its UK debut.

Salon Privé Director David Bagley added:

Salon Privé has a long tradition of attracting the most unique, radical and exhilarating automotive designs, many of which have been unveiled for the first time at the event. With the kind permission of His Grace The Duke of Marlborough, we are delighted to launch the new Concepts & Prototypes Lawn, and look forward to welcoming Automobili Estrema to Blenheim Palace.

Salon Privé is now in its 16th year, and is a week-long series of events held annually within the grounds of Blenheim Palace. Regarded as the UK’s most exclusive motor show, it features vast displays of luxury vehicles and supercars, with dozens of manufacturers showing off their latest designs.
